An Exercise in Futility

Woman in the Dunes SnowFirst blizzard of the new year. The day-long efforts of the man outside my window strike me as snow version of Kobo Abe’s 1964 book, Woman in the Dunes.  The film version, directed by Hiroshi Teshigahara is unforgettable and uncannily relevant.
